Faculty, staff, administrators, parents and students can consult with the CaPS counselors about issues regarding the mental health of CSUEB students. The brochure linked below entitled "Helping Students in Distress" discusses signals and "red flags," highlights intervention guidelines in assisting students, and provides a list of resources on campus. The more comprehensive – "Faculty Guide: Assisting the Emotionally Distressed Student" gives specific ideas of how to respond (and how not) to a wide variety of student situations. Resource numbers on and off campus are included. In non–emergency situations, the best time to reach a CaPS counselor is during the walk–in periods, Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. The phone contact number is 510–885–3690.
