HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR INTERNSHIP
Before Seeking an Internship
During the Internship
- Try to schedule regular meetings with your supervisor.
- Seek opportunities to have experiences beyond the regular scope of the internship that lead to more knowledge of the company or industry.
- Don't be afraid to ask questions, and be open to learning new skills.
- Find a mentor within the organization, whether it's your supervisor or another manager.
- Enjoy your internship -- even when you're doing the mundane, it is part of "paying your dues."
- Don't burn any bridges, even if your internship was not the best experience.
After you Leave
- Leave your internship with new skills, a better understanding of your field, and tangible accomplishments.
- Keep in touch with key co-workers and cultivate them to become part of your network.
