Barbara holds an MA in Career Development from the School of Management at John F. Kennedy University and a BA in Social Work from San Francisco State University. Before getting her MA, she worked as an operations, administrative services and customer service manager in the corporate world. She has counseled students and presented workshops in career development at Merritt College, JFK University, Mills College and most recently at West Valley College in Saratoga, CA. She was the manager of the downtown Oakland Career Center, a public career center for the Oakland community. She is a certified Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) through Rutgers University.
Barbara has taught the job search process to a wide range of people including engineers, artists, entrepreneurs, administrative and high tech workers. Her clients include ex-felons and Ph.D.’s. She has counseled hundreds of individuals and designed and conducted workshops in all aspects of the job search. She has first-hand knowledge of career transitions; she went back to graduate school in mid-life to obtain her Masters degree while working full-time.
