During my last quarter as a senior of 2005 I went to the spring job fair located in the Gym. I knew that I had to go with plenty of resumes in hand because this job fair is always the biggest of the year and most employers are looking for soon-to-be graduates. I ran into a Kaiser Permanente booth which was looking for business, accounting, and economics majors. Well I dont mean to toot my own horn but beep beep. Here I am an economics major with the perfect qualities to become an underwriter for business health insurance contracts. I quickly gave them my resume and I got the job after 2 interviews. Now that Ive graduated, Ive been working at Kaiser and I'd have to say that I love it!! It has been great to me and I think of it as a career and not just another job like Im used to having. The people are geat and there are always great resources for healthy living!! I am putting my economics degree to good use! I owe this job to the CDC. Thank you CDC!!!

I want to thank Susana for working with me during the mock interview. After leaving that day, I had a better idea of what questions might come up during my actual interview with Ameriprise Financial. I practiced as you suggested. They asked very similar questions. And I now have a new career that I'll be starting in June. Thanks again for your support. It really made a difference.
Sincerely,

Skyler Nollette

I really wanted to start my career in Human Resources, but I couldn't seem to get a call back on my resume. Finally I went to the career center to meet with Mark. He helped me put together a fabulous resume as well as instructed me where to look for jobs. Because of his help, I applied for a recruiting assistant position I found on CDC and got it! Now I work in the recruiting office at Google. I don't think I would have gotten the job without the resume suggestions. Thanks.

I am very satisfied with the CDC. They helped me get a job that I have had for almost a year! They were very helpful and assisted me with applying for jobs on your CDC website. I am going to use the CDC again soon because I am nearing graduation and need assistance with finding a career in graphic design. I would recommend the CDC to any student who needs help finding a job, career, or internship. Thank you for your help!

I've used the CDC many times; mostly for mock interviews. Like most people I get really nervous about interviewing. The CDC helped me prepare for a job Interview for an internship position with Sandia National Laboratories in 2001. I was able to confidently interview for that position and I got it. This was thanks, in great part, to CDC Staff.

I was able to stay at Sandia National Labs for 3yrs and move my way up to a more permanent position as an HRIS data analyst--a path that started with the CDC.

This year, I got a job as a Demand Planner at Del Monte Foods in San Francisco. I learned about this job through the CDC's On-line Job Binder. This is the job of my dreams. I work with different forecasting models and other quantitative methods and with various information systems and data analysis tools. As an MBA CIS option student I'm able to apply the full gamut of my knowledge which was gained through my education here at CSUEB.

I highly recommend that students take advantage of the many resources (mock interviewing, assessments, workshops, and more) available to CSUEB students at the CDC.

Thanks very much for all of your help at the CDC.

I recently accepted work as a Quality Assurance Tech with Mother's Cookies, Inc. This was a position that I came across on the CDC's Online Job Binders job database. I want to says thanks to Career Counselor Andrea Alvarado and the CDC staff for the quality of services offered to students.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank CSUH's Career Center and Susana Moraga. I am a graduate of CSUH's MPA program and was struggling to find work after graduation and losing my job to budget cuts. Susana provided me with valuable feedback on my resumes, cover letters, informational interviewing process, and the current job market climate. After 5 months of unemployment, 50 targeted resumes sent, 15 interviews, 2 positions declined, 20 informational interviews conducted, 5 career center workshops attended, and semi-weekly appointments with Susana, I found a great job that fits well with my career goals, educational investments, and passion for working with youth. Thank you to Susana and the workshop instructors for your assistance and guidance.

The CDC Career Counselors are very knowledgeable! I always visited the CDC before I graduated in 2003. From on-campus interviews to attending workshops, the staff and counselors were always there to help. They were, and still are, my BEST personal career coaches. About a month before I graduated I got an interview with Pacific Gas and Electric. Frankly, I was mixed with excitement and didn't know what to expect concerning the interview. I came to my career coach, Mark Reed, in the CDC. He was very helpful, and he walked me through the whole process. As a result, I got an offer, and I thank the CDC counselors for their dedication! Students: Stay positive and use the CDC, because job hunting is a process, and you will be surprised how many opportunities there are for you, even when, as the "job market experts" say, the economy is not at its best.

The Career Development Center helped me enormously. I got a job as a tax intern through the CDC's MonsterTrak's job listings. A Career Counselor critiqued my resume and I believe the edited changes were crucial in persuading the company to hire me.

As a result of the new job, I now can learn about the business field in the workplace and have a source of income to further fund my studies at Cal State Hayward. Thanks Career Center!

I'm a registered user on MonsterTRAK and visit the CDC often. The staff have really helped me find a job, and I often receive e-mails with job listings. I highly recommend that other students make use of their resources.

The CDC has really helped me get an internship. I'm currently working at New United Motor Manufacturing gaining experience in Human Resources. I obtained this internship through the CDC because they would constantly e-mail me updates of jobs/internships etc. I find this system very useful because you can check out jobs and tips on how to improve your resume from your home computer. Thanks to the CDC, I might have the opportunity to stay full-time in my current internship position. Please continue with the services you offer to the alumni of Cal State Hayward because they are very helpful.

Overall, I think the center has very good resources to steer students on the right path regarding resume writing, interviewing skills, and available internships. CSU Hayward has hosted some great companies on campus, such as Deloitte and Touche, Ernst & Young, and PriceWaterhouseCooper.

Yes, I have had a career center success. During the 2001 Winter quarter I was looking for a job and came across an English teacher/tutor position at BrainChild in Union City. The Career Development Center staff assisted me in contacting them and setting up an interview. We scheduled an interview with BrainChild for the following week, and I was hired as a part-time English teacher the proceeding week.

Thank you Career Development Center!

The Career Development Center has really helped me. Because of you guys I found a part-time job last year, and I found a internship this summer. I really appreciate everything that you guys have done for me, and I tell all my friends to go to the CDC if they need a job! Thanks for making my year at CSUH prosperous!

In June 2002 I came into the CDC, resume in hand, one class away from a masters degree and unemployed. At the time, the economy was in bad shape. I had been gainfully employed since obtaining my bachelor's degree 8 years earlier. Being unemployed was very foreign to me.

To make a long story short, the CDC was able to show me the various services available to CSUH students and alumni. I started to attend a weekly resume workshop, in which I was able to polish up the old resume and also to network with other students with quite diverse backgrounds and interests. In addition to the workshop, I met with a Career Counselor, where we discussed resume presentation, cover letters, and on-line job searches.

Now for the results. Through MonsterTRAK, I was able to locate an international tax position with one of the "Big 4" accounting firms. I emailed my new and improved resume and cover letter (using the new online search techniques I acquired) to the company and after a series of interviews, I was hired. The results were amazing. Less than a month after I first stepped foot in the CDC office I was gainfully employed again. I can't say enough great things about the CDC and how helpful you were. I can't see why any job-seeking CSUH graduate would not take full advantage of your services. As a final follow-up let me say that I've since finished my masters degree and I couldn't be more pleased with the path my career has taken. Thank you CDC staff for all of your assistance.

I graduated in September 2003 and by October I was offered a full-time position with the City of Alameda as a Senior Clerk starting at $20.52/hour. The position was listed with the CDC. Trust me, the Career Development Center works.

I am currently a senior at CSUH. Recently I attended a workshop entitled "What Can I Do with My Liberal Arts Education?". I was amazed to find out all the marketable skills I possess. I had my resume updated because of this workshop, and I am always on the Career Development Center's website looking for jobs and information on writing resumes and improving my interviewing skills. Thanks CDC !
